I designed and bound a booklet based on Chapter 12 of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The goal of this project was to experiment with visuals and create a consistent visual language drawn from imagery in the book. I was inspired by the motif of a fire growing as Frankenstein's monster gains more of an understanding of the world. Instead of flames, I decided to use smoke for a more subtle approach. I chose a Japanese stab stitch for the binding as a marriage of the monster's stitched-together appearance and beautiful, tortured mind.
